Corrales Connect

Corrales, NM Community

Pachamama has been a significant source of authentic Latin American folk art in our community for decades. Founded in 1974, the store is named “Pachamama,” meaning the respected Earth Mother of the Andes. This name signifies a profound appreciation for the origins and essence of the distinct creations available. For almost 50 years, Pachamama has dedicated itself to showcasing the beauty of handcrafted art, offering items that convey stories and connect us to deep cultural customs.

A Legacy of Art and Family

Currently, Pachamama is owned by Martha Egan, who assumed control in 1978. Martha carries on the work begun by her sister, Polly Arango, and her husband, John, the original founders of the cherished shop. Their collective aim remains central: to present the best and most attractive handmade Latin American folk art, including both new and older pieces.

The emphasis remains on providing these outstanding pieces at fair prices, often building direct connections with the talented craftspeople who dedicate themselves to each creation, ensuring authenticity and ethical practices.

Authentic, Fair-Trade Craftsmanship

Upon entering Pachamama, you will encounter a brilliant selection of artistic works. The store is especially known for its exceptional assortment of Milagros, small religious folk charms often finely crafted and rich in significance. Alongside these, you will find Relicarios, appealing lockets that function as small altars, ideal for keeping cherished memories. These represent just a fraction of the varied and engaging artwork available, with each item demonstrating the enduring skill of Latin America and a valuable addition to your living space.
